With April’s showers now behind us, Toronto’s essential underground venue, CODA, is blooming with a garden of May talent. And this month, in particular, is rooted in a variety of electronic music genres.

Leading into May, CODA gives Toronto exactly what they’re asking for with The Kids Want Techno. On May 5, this city-based showcase jumps into its sixth edition with Stereo Montreal’s resident DJ, Ostrich. Grab tickets here.

The following evening on May 6, Dennis Ferrer weaves together afro-house, tech-soul, and deep electro. Founder of NYC’s mega-successful label, Objektivity, Ferrer has an ear for great vocal tracks, the result of which is a number of fiery house records. Not to mention, Ferrer will be supported by one of our personal favourite local acts – City Kid Soul, along with the notorious Richard Brooks. Grab tickets here.

On May 12, be sure not to miss Boris Brejchaa DJ so experimental he had to create his own sub-genre: high-tech minimal. Joining Brejcha is the DJ’s in-studio and on-stage collaborator, Ann Clue. Grab tickets here.

Another must-see is Enzo Siragusa, the architect behind Fuse Londonone of the city’s largest event companies. Entering the industry as a promoter, it soon became clear that Siragusa also had a talent for low-slung tech-house. Check it out May 13. Grab tickets here.

The next weekend on May 19, CODA’s own resident DJ, Jonathan Rosa, delivers a 3-hour extended set. Rosa earned his namestay in the Toronto scene with better-than-original remixes and not-to-be-missed opening sets. Grab tickets here.

On May 20, 2016’s Best Breakthrough Artist at the Ibiza DJ Awards, Anna, conjures up a potion of wickedly dark tech-house just for the crowd at CODA. Grab tickets here.

In a long-weekend special, DnB’s soulful king, LTJ Bukem, mans the decks on May 21. Creating DnB for over 10 years, LTJ Bukem opened the doors for much of the genre’s crossover potential, aiding in the growth of the sound into a wide-reaching, global force. Grab tickets here.

Rounding out the month on May 27, Jungle Funk Recordings hosts England’s soaring overachiever, Doorly. With multiple number ones on Beatport and Tracksource, as well not one but two features on Pete Tong’s BBC Radio 1 show, Doorly’s resume (and DJ skills) are nothing short of impressive. Grab tickets here.
