The magic that took place at Hanlan’s Point this past weekend could be felt by all. Arguably the largest and most successful Electric Island season opener to date, it was encouraging to see festival-goers back on home turf, welcomed by sunshine and deep, groovy beats.
But when the moon comes up and the ferry boats approach mainland, [for many of us] the party has just begun. Any seasoned EI-goer knows that the euphoria keeps rolling well into the early morning. Where do the vibes relocate you ask? Well, for some of us it could be on the living room floor of your best friend’s condo. BUT, if you’re looking to maintain those shimmering, musical moments felt on the island, then you’re probably heading to CODA. Home to the legendary Electric Island After-Parties.
If you’re one of the lucky ones to make it off the island and land at the door step of 794 Bathurst Street before the club has hit capacity, then you’re in for something special! It can be a bit of a gamble (the “special guest” doesn’t get announced until the end of the festival), but regardless of which headliner strolls through the door, one thing is guaranteed: the music will be flawless.
Shall we remind you of that velvety, smooth intimate set when Dixon commanded the dance floor back in 2016? Or how about when the house was brought down by Papa Sven, turning out record after record at last year’s season finale AP? This past Sunday, it was the deep, sensual bass lines of YokoO and rare, eclectic records of DJ Tennis that kept music-lovers dancing until close. With 4 Electric Island events still to go, including the likes of Loco Dice, Charlotte De Witte, Rodriguez Jr. and The Martinez Brothers, it’s safe to say that CODA’s got a few more tricks up their sleeve…
