Thanks to the minds behind Apollo Inc. and Format, Toronto has seen a resurgence in proper, warehouse rave vibes this past year, with each event featuring some of dance music’s most prolific names. Already responsible for bringing the likes of Kevin Saunderson, Jeff Mills and Ben Sims, on Friday, December 22, Apollo and Format will add Detroit techno icon Derrick May and New York’s almighty Volvox to the list of performances. Lucky for you, we’ll be giving away 1 pair of tickets via our Facebook page.
‘Resistance’ is the theme of the evening. Aimed to raise awareness of social injustices such as racism, homophobia and violence, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to various groups who resist social intolerance including Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund (LEAF), Native Women’s Association of Canada (NWAC) and Canadian Race Relations Foundation (CRRF).
It will all be going down at a warehouse venue near Queen and Spadina, where patrons will be able to roam between 3 rooms, decked out with psychedelic art, vintage arcade gaming, specialty bars and most importantly the dance floors, which will be fuelled by the pulsating bass of Derrick May, Volvox, AADJA and Measure Divide.
Techno lovers be aware; those who bring one piece of warm clothing for donation will be granted free coat check. Enjoy music with the people you love, while doing something noble this holiday season. Together, we must resist!
Head to our Facebook page to enter in a chance to win tickets to ‘Resistance’ with Derrick May and Volvox.
